| * crypto: crc32c - Provide crc32c-arch driver for accelerated library codeArd Biesheuvel2024-10-281-22/+72
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | crc32c-generic is currently backed by the architecture's CRC-32c library code, which may offer a variety of implementations depending on the capabilities of the platform. These are not covered by the crypto subsystem's fuzz testing capabilities because crc32c-generic is the reference driver that the fuzzing logic uses as a source of truth. Fix this by providing a crc32c-arch implementation which is based on the arch library code if available, and modify crc32c-generic so it is always based on the generic C implementation. If the arch has no CRC-32c library code, this change does nothing. Signed-off-by: Ard Biesheuvel <ardb@kernel.org> Signed-off-by: Herbert Xu <herbert@gondor.apana.org.au>

|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | asm/unaligned.h is always an include of asm-generic/unaligned.h; might as well move that thing to linux/unaligned.h and include that - there's nothing arch-specific in that header. auto-generated by the following: for i in `git grep -l -w asm/unaligned.h`; do sed -i -e "s/asm\/unaligned.h/linux\/unaligned.h/" $i done for i in `git grep -l -w asm-generic/unaligned.h`; do sed -i -e "s/asm-generic\/unaligned.h/linux\/unaligned.h/" $i done git mv include/asm-generic/unaligned.h include/linux/unaligned.h git mv tools/include/asm-generic/unaligned.h tools/include/linux/unaligned.h sed -i -e "/unaligned.h/d" include/asm-generic/Kbuild sed -i -e "s/__ASM_GENERIC/__LINUX/" include/linux/unaligned.h tools/include/linux/unaligned.h

* crypto: remove CRYPTO_TFM_RES_BAD_KEY_LENEric Biggers2020-01-091-3/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The CRYPTO_TFM_RES_BAD_KEY_LEN flag was apparently meant as a way to make the ->setkey() functions provide more information about errors. However, no one actually checks for this flag, which makes it pointless. Also, many algorithms fail to set this flag when given a bad length key. Reviewing just the generic implementations, this is the case for aes-fixed-time, cbcmac, echainiv, nhpoly1305, pcrypt, rfc3686, rfc4309, rfc7539, rfc7539esp, salsa20, seqiv, and xcbc. But there are probably many more in arch/*/crypto/ and drivers/crypto/. Some algorithms can even set this flag when the key is the correct length. For example, authenc and authencesn set it when the key payload is malformed in any way (not just a bad length), the atmel-sha and ccree drivers can set it if a memory allocation fails, and the chelsio driver sets it for bad auth tag lengths, not just bad key lengths. So even if someone actually wanted to start checking this flag (which seems unlikely, since it's been unused for a long time), there would be a lot of work needed to get it working correctly. But it would probably be much better to go back to the drawing board and just define different return values, like -EINVAL if the key is invalid for the algorithm vs. -EKEYREJECTED if the key was rejected by a policy like "no weak keys". That would be much simpler, less error-prone, and easier to test. So just remove this flag. * crypto: run initcalls for generic implementations earlierEric Biggers2019-04-181-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Use subsys_initcall for registration of all templates and generic algorithm implementations, rather than module_init. Then change cryptomgr to use arch_initcall, to place it before the subsys_initcalls. This is needed so that when both a generic and optimized implementation of an algorithm are built into the kernel (not loadable modules), the generic implementation is registered before the optimized one. Otherwise, the self-tests for the optimized implementation are unable to allocate the generic implementation for the new comparison fuzz tests. Note that on arm, a side effect of this change is that self-tests for generic implementations may run before the unaligned access handler has been installed. So, unaligned accesses will crash the kernel. This is arguably a good thing as it makes it easier to detect that type of bug. * crypto: crc32c-generic - remove cra_alignmaskEric Biggers2018-05-261-4/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | crc32c-generic sets an alignmask, but actually its ->update() works with any alignment; only its ->setkey() and outputting the final digest assume an alignment. To prevent the buffer from having to be aligned by the crypto API for just these cases, switch these cases over to the unaligned access macros and remove the cra_alignmask. Note that this also makes crc32c-generic more consistent with crc32-generic. Signed-off-by: Eric Biggers <ebiggers@google.com> Signed-off-by: Herbert Xu <herbert@gondor.apana.org.au>
* crypto: hash - annotate algorithms taking optional keyEric Biggers2018-01-121-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | We need to consistently enforce that keyed hashes cannot be used without setting the key. To do this we need a reliable way to determine whether a given hash algorithm is keyed or not. AF_ALG currently does this by checking for the presence of a ->setkey() method. However, this is actually slightly broken because the CRC-32 algorithms implement ->setkey() but can also be used without a key. (The CRC-32 "key" is not actually a cryptographic key but rather represents the initial state. If not overridden, then a default initial state is used.) Prepare to fix this by introducing a flag CRYPTO_ALG_OPTIONAL_KEY which indicates that the algorithm has a ->setkey() method, but it is not required to be called. Then set it on all the CRC-32 algorithms. The same also applies to the Adler-32 implementation in Lustre. Also, the cryptd and mcryptd templates have to pass through the flag from their underlying algorithm. * crypto: crc32c - Fix crc32c soft dependencyJean Delvare2016-01-191-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | I don't think it makes sense for a module to have a soft dependency on itself. This seems quite cyclic by nature and I can't see what purpose it could serve. OTOH libcrc32c calls crypto_alloc_shash("crc32c", 0, 0) so it pretty much assumes that some incarnation of the "crc32c" hash algorithm has been loaded. Therefore it makes sense to have the soft dependency there (as crc-t10dif does.) Cc: stable@vger.kernel.org Cc: Tim Chen <tim.c.chen@linux.intel.com> Cc: "David S. * crypto: add missing crypto module aliasesMathias Krause2015-01-131-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Commit 5d26a105b5a7 ("crypto: prefix module autoloading with "crypto-"") changed the automatic module loading when requesting crypto algorithms to prefix all module requests with "crypto-". This requires all crypto modules to have a crypto specific module alias even if their file name would otherwise match the requested crypto algorithm. Even though commit 5d26a105b5a7 added those aliases for a vast amount of modules, it was missing a few. Add the required MODULE_ALIAS_CRYPTO annotations to those files to make them get loaded automatically, again. This fixes, e.g., requesting 'ecb(blowfish-generic)', which used to work with kernels v3.18 and below. Also change MODULE_ALIAS() lines to MODULE_ALIAS_CRYPTO(). The former won't work for crypto modules any more. We added the soft module dependency of crc32c module alias to generic crc32c module so other hardware accelerated crc32c modules could get loaded and used before the generic version.
