| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Now that we start having multiple platforms with minor variants, the use of the const qualifier for 'dsp_ops' is starting to be sub-optimal: the structures are copied across platforms, with only a couple of members that differ. This patch removes the const qualifier without any functionality changes, and adds an optional initialization callback. In follow-up patches, the dsp_ops will revisited for Intel HDaudio platforms, with the differences added programmatically over a common baseline. To make reviews simpler, we only modify platform descriptors in this table, the information will be used in the next patch. The Intel IPCv4 is only supported on Intel platforms after APL, and not by default. In follow-up patches, support for SKL and KBL will be added, and in those two cases the IPCv4 will be the default (and only supported mode). We start by moving sof/intel/intel-ipc.c into sof/stream-ipc.c and rename the functions to be generic. Notice that we use newly introduced snd_sof_dsp_mailbox_read instead of sof_mailbox_read, to make sure that we are not bound to existing MMIO memory access, and we allow platform to implement their own memory access routines. These routines are optional, each platform can implement their own specific routines. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The SOF-ACPI driver is backwards from the normal Linux model, it has a generic driver that knows about all the specific drivers, as opposed to having hardware specific drivers that link against a common framework. This requires ugly Kconfig magic and leads to missed dependencies as seen in this link error: arm-linux-gnueabi-ld: sound/soc/sof/sof-pci-dev.o: in function `sof_acpi_probe': sof-pci-dev.c:(.text+0x1c): undefined reference to `snd_intel_dsp_driver_probe' Change it to use the normal probe order of starting with a specific device in a driver, turning the sof-acpi-dev.c driver into a library (exported symbols are name-spaced to avoid symbol pollution). For backwards-compatibility with previous Kconfigs, the default values for platform drivers uses the top-level ACPI configurations. The modules were also renamed to allow for gradual transitions in test scripts. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | On probe and reset, we should not touch the SHIM_IMRD register since it is configured by firmware. The driver only configures SHIM_IMRX with the BUSY interrupt enabled by default and DONE interrupt disabled. When sending an IPC message, the DONE interrupt is enabled until the DSP response is provided. This sequence hardens the IPC communication and avoid interrupt-related issues when adding/removing modules or during system suspend-resume transitions. Its use in soc-pcm.c makes it a requirement for all DAIs to report at least a non-zero min_channels field. For some reason the SSP structures used for SKL+ did provide this information but legacy platforms didn't. This is driven by the ACPI restrictions. Ideally, ACPI tables should contain the description for the machine driver. This is not possible because ACPI tables are frozen and used on multiple OS-es (e.g Windows). In the case of Device Tree we don't have this restriction, so we choose to probe the machine drivers by creating a DT node as is the standard ALSA way. This patch makes the probing of machine drivers from SOF core optional allowing for Device Tree platforms to decouple the SOF core from machine driver probing. Along with this, it also consolidates the machine driver selection for Intel platforms by defining optional ops for selecting the machine driver based on the ACPI match for HDA and non-HDA platforms and setting the mach params. First step in reducing the code duplication is to introduce generic functions: * sof_get_windows * sof_fw_ready that will replace, in the first step, the specific implementation related to baytrail related platforms: * byt_get_windows * byt_fw_ready So we are basically moving code from intel/byt.c to loader.c keeping in mind that mbox_offset is a per platform constant so we need to use newly introduced snd_sof_dsp_get_mailbox_offset / snd_sof_dsp_get_window_offset in order to get the correct mbox offset / window offset value. Also, bar is a per platform constant so we use snd_sof_dsp_get_bar_index instead of the hardcoded BYT_DSP_BAR.
